A: Astrology is considered a pseudoscience, but…

Before I begin explaining my answer to the question, I have to state that I am not a professional astrologer or a scientist. I am just an ordinary person, who enjoys Googling and reading research articles in my spare time. Hopefully, after reading this article, you may be more interested in researching the history of astrology yourself (please do not just believe everything I write).

Introduction & Definition

For a long time, astrology has not been considered a science by credible sources such as NASA. Although, there has been no attempt to disprove this field using the scientific method, only stating one’s own opinion and ignoring ancient sources. I plan to be the first person to conduct experiments, review journal articles, and/or produce evidence that supports the position that astrology is a science, and should be a part of the science/psychology curriculum at universities.

Astrology is the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world (Godoy, 2019).

It is a modern idea that astrology is separate from astronomy. Ancient literature has shown that astrologers/astronomers were the same people, that they were considered to be the “wise men”. If you want to learn more about this, perhaps consider reading textbooks written by astrologers, who can provide a clear history of the divide between the two scientific fields. Chris Brennan is an excellent example of a professional astrologer with a vast array of knowledge.

My Personal Beliefs

In the past, I was a Christian (forced into the religion by both sides of my family), and first looked into this topic as an attempt to further prove my faith. I wanted to be able to clearly state, with supporting evidence, that “astrology is not a science”. If you know anything about the Christian faith, you will know that a lot of the people who follow it believe truly that Satan is real, and are taught in churches that astrology is evil and a lie to trick us.

Honestly, from my personal experience, I found that astrology is actually more accurate and predictive than anything that is said by the Christians, (considering that what they say comes from a book that has contradictory statements and deliberate changes from ancient Jewish texts). I do not consider any opinion true and factual unless there is clear evidence to support the claim.

Future Posts

I hope that in future, I will have the physical evidence published regarding this debate. At present, I am at the stage of collecting observatory data and researching, but will hopefully be able to state a clear hypothesis and begin my personal research in the next few years. Also, feel free to comment on this post, providing the sources for the evidence either disproving or proving astrology as a science to help others to become more knowledgeable of the topic. I am open to different perspectives.
